Porcelain and Composite Veneers
Our teeth are not always uniform in shape, color, and size and sometimes they might affect the overall appearance of your mouth. In some cases, there are small imperfections that can quickly be fixed with the use of veneers. This type of treatment consists of placing a shell-like dental veneer that can be made out of porcelain or composite resin, and is custom made to fit over your teeth which can dramatically improve your smile!
Veneers are great to cover up and mask defects in your teeth, whether there is a gap, a crooked tooth, a chipped or fissured tooth or to cover up stains – the procedure to fit veneers is quick and results are immediate.
They can be made out of porcelain which is very durable and very thin so once it has been bonded to your tooth it will not be bulky and it will nicely blend in with the rest of your teeth – you will barely notice it is even there! However, porcelain veneers are created in a lab and therefore it will take a few visits to get them done. On the other hand, if you are looking for a faster fix, due to an emergency or time constraint, composite resin veneers can be done at the dental office that day.
Both types of veneers are bonded to the tooth and are very effective, and the only difference is the amount of tooth that is removed to prepare for the veneer. This means that part of your tooth is shaven off to fit and then bond the material to your tooth, and then it is cured with the use of a special light and then polished and finished.
Both options will offer great results and will drastically improve your smile, if you think you might be a good candidate for this procedure, give us a call at (707) 240-8099 or visit our practice at 2845 Main St. #102, St. Helena, CA 94574.
